What If the Problem Wasn't You... But What Was Never Given To You?

Parenting isn't just about what you do.
It's about how steady you can stay when everything feels stirred.

You're not here because you're failing.
You're here because you're trying to meet your child in ways no one ever met you.

That takes more than strategy. It takes support.
This space is for that.

You already know:

Parenting isn't just about what you do.
It's about how steady you can stay when everything feels stirred.
You're not here because you're failing.
You're here because you're trying (and wanting) to meet your child in ways no one met you.

This is for the parent who...

  • Wants to offer something new but won't abandon themselves in the process
  • Feels the gap between what they know and what they feel
  • Is parenting over wounds that never had space to heal
  • Is emotionally aware and reflective, but still feels unsure in the moment

The Circle of Security
A 9-week small group experience for parents who are learning how to feel safe, so they can offer safety to their child.

The Circle of Security®

A Week-by-Week Overview

Circle of Security Week by Week Overview

Week 1: Welcome, begin creating a Safe Base

Theme: 'We all need a safe place to land.'

We begin by exploring the core principles of the Circle of Security, a map that helps us understand our children's emotional needs and behaviours through an attachment lens. We also gently reflect on what 'security' looked like in our own childhoods.

  • Introduction to the Circle of Security model
  • Why attachment matters and how it impacts development
  • Creating emotional safety in the parent-child relationship
  • Beginning to notice our own internal "shark music"

Week 2: Following Your Child's Lead - The Top Half of the Circle

Theme: 'Support me as I explore the world.'

  • The top half of the Circle: exploring, learning, and adventure
  • Understanding cues for independence and curiosity
  • Noticing when we struggle to 'let go' or step back
  • Reflecting on our own experiences of being supported to explore

Week 3: Being With - The Bottom Half of the Circle

Theme: 'Welcome me when I return.'

  • The bottom half of the Circle: comfort, co-regulation, safety
  • How our children express needs for closeness, comfort, or repair
  • The importance of 'Being With' over fixing or distracting
  • Exploring triggers: when our child's need feels overwhelming

Week 4: The Hands on the Circle - Providing a Secure Base

Theme: 'You are my safe hands - even when I'm falling apart.'

  • What it means to be the hands: containing, soothing, guiding
  • Balancing connection and boundaries
  • When our child needs us to hold firm
  • Holding both strength and softness

Week 5: Exploring Rapture + Repair

Theme: 'There is no perfect parenting, only repair.'

  • All parents misstep - what matters is what comes next
  • How to repair with our child
  • Exploring guilt, shame, and fear around 'getting it wrong'
  • What repair looked like (or didn't) in our own childhood

Week 6: Navigating Emotional Triggers + Shark Music

Theme: 'What we don't heal, we often pass on.'

  • Understanding 'Shark Music' - the triggers that hijack connection
  • Why certain behaviours evoke big reactions
  • The link between our attachment histories and parenting responses
  • Tools for regulation and reparenting in the moment

Week 7: Reflecting on Your Child's Need + Individual Differences

Theme: 'See me for who I am.'

  • Each child's Circle looks a little different
  • Understanding and honouring temperament
  • Adapting our responses to meet individual needs
  • Letting go of perfection and embracing 'good enough'

Week 8: The Heart of Connection — Closing Reflections

Theme: 'I don't need perfect. I need you to keep coming back.'

  • The power of repair and emotional safety
  • Strengthening your child's secure base over time
  • Parenting as a journey - not a destination
  • Trusting yourself to come back, again and again

Week 9: Reconnecting + Integration Session

We come back after a few weeks away to bring any circle stories, explorations, concerns, or questions. A chance to come together again, support as you bring the theory to life, and reflect as a group.

Early Bird Bonus: Pre-Course Welcome Workshop

"Parenting the Part of You That's Scared You'll Get It Wrong"

Before Week 1 even begins, early bird participants will be invited to a gentle, 30-minute welcome workshop.

This isn't another task. (promise)
Instead, it's an opportunity to speak to the part that may feel nervous before the learning starts.

We'll name the doubt. Soften the shame. And gently reflect on what it means to begin again.

You're a busy parent so of course the replay will be available.

Additional Support

The course stands beautifully on its own. If you'd like additional support, individual or couples therapy is available as an optional layer, offering more space for your story to be held, if and when you need it.

Why Do This Course With Me?

I'm a therapist trained in attachment, reparenting, and emotionally focused work, but more than that, I know how it feels to want to do things differently... and still feel unsure in the moment.

This isn't about teaching from a pedestal. It's about sitting beside you in the questions.

Inside the Circle of Security, I won't ask you to perform parenting.
I'll guide you to feel what safety actually looks like, even when it's messy.

Hi Lovely, welcome.

I'm Jo, a psychotherapist, mum of three beautifully wild boys and a big believer in doing parenting differently.

Originally from the UK and now raising a family in Australia, I specialise in attachment, early parenting and relationship therapy. My days are spent supporting parents and couples in the thick of it. The messy, the love and often-overwhelming work of raising small humans while trying to rewire everything you were handed.

I've trained as a postpartum doula, a baby massage instructor and attachment education. I've sat in hundreds of rooms with mothers and fathers quietly asking themselves: Why does this still feel so hard, when I'm doing everything differently?

I've seen firsthand how much more possible connection becomes when parents feel supported, seen, and steady in themselves.

This course isn't just what I teach. It's what I live.

I created this space for the parent who's trying to offer what they never received, who's wanting to be the parent they never had.

And who knows, deep down, that it's not just about raising children... It's about raising yourself, too and I'm so glad you're here.
